Humble Man has big hope

Sunday, August 22, 2010

KENYAN athlete John Mwangi Ndungu has set himself a record-beating target of completing next weekend’s The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane 10km run in less than 29 minutes.
The 36-year-old is one of the most humble people you could meet but he leaves no doubt about his aim.
“My wish is to be No.1 on the 29th,” he said.
Mr Ndungu, who arrived in Brisbane last week, has been training with top Queensland coach Roy Rankin from the QEII Track Club.
His trip has been sponsored by the Redlands-based African Equity charity and he has already overcome some obstacles just to make it to the starting line.
