THE SUNDAY MAIL SUNCORP BRIDGE TO BRISBANE FUN RUN

• Entry into “The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane 2010”, being a fun run/walk event (“Event”), to be hosted on 29 August 2010 (“Event Day”) by Queensland Newspapers Pty Ltd (“Event Organiser”) is deemed acceptance of these entry terms.
• Entries close, for entries lodged:
– by post, when the last post is received on Friday, August 6, 2010;
– in person at the Event Office, 1/120 Fison Ave West, Eagle Farm, on Friday, August 27 at 7:00pm; and
– online at www.bridgetobrisbane.com.au, on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 7:00pm.
• All entrants must complete and submit an entry form and pay the applicable entry fee and wear at all times during the Event the official race bib and timing chip supplied to each entrant accepted and registered by the Event Organiser. Entry is not transferable. It is only valid for the person whose name and address details are listed in the entry form. All entrants acknowledge any attempt to transfer an entry or allow another person to participate in the Event under the entrant’s name without the Event Organiser’s knowledge may void any applicable insurance.
• Each entrant acknowledges insurance may be in place that may provide limited cover to entrants while they are participating in the Event. Entrants understand this insurance may not cover them for all personal injuries, death and/or damage sustained during the Event. Also, entrants acknowledge they may be able to, in their own interests and at their own expense, seek and obtain personal insurances over and above the cover provided by the Event Organiser.
• To qualify as a finisher in each of the 10km and 5km Events, entrants must finish the course along the exact route listed in the Event Guide and on the website www.bridgetobrisbane.com.au.
• Each entrant acknowledges participation in the Event can be inherently dangerous and they are exposed to certain risks during the Event, including personal injury, death and/or property damage resulting from their participation, including, overexertion, equipment failure, dehydration, serious accidents and course and weather conditions.
• Each entrant acknowledges they will be, at the time of the Event, medically and physically fit for the Event and unaware of any illness, injury or any other physical disability or impairment which may cause personal injury, death and/or property damage to them or anyone else while participating in the Event. Each entrant will provide via the entry form or otherwise, details of any medical or physical condition that may affect their performance or be relevant if medical treatment is needed. Each entrant accepts all risks of participating despite their medical and/or physical condition and forever releases and indemnifies to the fullest extent permitted by law the Event Organiser, Event sponsors, Event volunteers; the owners, licensees and occupiers of land upon which any part of the Event is conducted; any statutory body or local authority having control over any land upon which any part of the Event is conducted; their related bodies corporate and their officers, employees, members and/or contractors and any other person from and against all claims, loss (including consequential loss) and/or costs (including legal costs), whether or not legal proceedings are instituted, irrespective of the means, manner and/or nature of any settlement or determination arising directly and/or indirectly out of, and/or in connection with, the entrant’s participation in the Event, including any Event competitions and/or prize draws. If the release and indemnity provisions of this clause are determined to be void, each entrant forever releases and indemnifies the Event Organiser, Event sponsors, Event volunteers; the owners, licensees and occupiers of land upon which any part of the Event is conducted; any statutory body or local authority having control over any land upon which any part of the Event is conducted; their related bodies corporate and their officers, employees, members and/or contractors against all death or personal injury claims arising out of the entrant’s participation in the Event.
• Each entrant consents to receiving any medical treatment, including ambulance transportation, the Event Organiser considers desirable during or after the Event. In the event of an emergency, the entrant authorizes their personal details to be shared with appropriate parties, including, but not limited to, the Event Organiser, medical staff and the entrant’s Emergency Contact. The Race Organiser has the right to contact the competitor or their listed Emergency Contact as they consider necessary or desirable during or after the Event.
• Each entrant acknowledges it is their responsibility to ensure they are appropriately hydrated while participating in the Event.
• Each entrant acknowledges their entry fee is not refundable should they not compete or the Event is cancelled or changed by the Event Organiser due to reasons beyond the reasonable control of the Event Organiser such as bad weather or for safety reasons.
• Each entrant acknowledges that they have sole responsibility for their personal possessions and athletic equipment during the Event and related activities. The Event Organiser and Suncorp as an Event sponsor, are not liable for any damaged/lost goods.
• All entrants must return their timing chip after crossing the finish line at the Event to the Event Organiser. Entrants, who do not return their timing chip, loaned to them as an entrant in the Event, undamaged by Friday September 10, 2010, irrevocably undertake to pay the Event Organiser $50. If, after collecting their timing chip, entrants are unable to participate in the Event, they will deliver the timing chip bubble wrapped or in a box to USM Events, Po Box 1145, Eagle Farm BC 4009 or 1/120 Fison Ave West, Eagle Farm. Entrants acknowledge the timing Chip may be damaged if sent via Australia Post mail and the Event Organiser will not be held responsible for damaged, lost, misplaced or misdirected timing chips.
• Each entrant consents to, without being compensated in any way, the publication and/or use in any form of media whatsoever by the Event Organiser or Event sponsors, of their name, image, statements, and photographs and films of them taken by the Event Organiser or its contractors, in any context pertaining to the Event or otherwise before, during or after the Event for advertising, promotions or otherwise.
• Each entrant understands they are not able to collect their Event information kit (including official race bib with number, timing chip and Event information booklet) on the Event Day. Event information kits need to be collected prior to 12:00noon Saturday August 28, 2010.
• Each entrant understands their entry form and payment is valid only for the fun run distance they have nominated in the Event. Entrants can only participate in the category in which they register; entrants will be disqualified if they compete in a distance other than the distance nominated.
• Individual entrants can enter and compete in both 10km and 5km Events, but will be ineligible to win both. The entrant’s 10km result will be deemed their registered time.
• Entrants running with strollers can register for any category (excluding the 5km Elite or 10km Elite categories), but must start at the back of their category.
• To be eligible to register in the 10km Event Blue Elite or Red Runner categories, male and female entrants must have achieved a maximum official result of 47min and 62min, respectively, in the 12km Event in 2007 or earlier; or a maximum official result of 40min and 50min, respectively, in the 10km Event in 2008 or 2009. Official results from similar events of the same distance will be considered.
• To be eligible to register in the 5km Purple Elite category in 2010, entrants must have achieved a maximum official result of 18min in the 4.5km Event in 2007 or earlier; or a maximum official result of 20min in the 5km Event in 2008 or 2009. Official results from similar events of the same distance will be considered.
• Entrants can enter a team with a minimum of 5 participants in the 5km or 10km Event. One team cannot enter some members in the 10km Event and some members in the 5km Event. A team must compete in the same Event distance and category. A team entry must be sent or delivered at the same time, with sufficient payment to cover all entrants.
• If an entrant is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must approve with signature the declaration printed on the entry form and sign it on their behalf. If entering online the parent or guardian must accept and agree to the terms in the waiver for their child/children/subjects. The parent/guardian is also responsible for the health and safety of their child/children/subjects of guardianship competing in the 5km or 10km Events.
• Entrants will only be permitted to walk or run unassisted, without the aid or use of prohibited items such as bikes, skateboards, rip sticks, rollerblades or similar items when competing in the Event, with the exception of entrants in strollers, wheelchairs or similar devices.
- Pets, except guide dogs, are not permitted.
- Strollers, wheel chairs and similar devices must have appropriate safety restraints and meet Australian Safety Standards.
-To meet the road closure re-opening schedule, Event course cut off times will apply. To ensure the safety of all entrants, any entrant who is unable to meet the Event course cut off times will not be permitted to remain on the roadway.
• Entrants acknowledge they will abide by any reasonable directions issued by the Event Organiser.
• The Event Organiser may close entries early if the Event limit is reached prior to the nominated closing dates for entries.
• The Event Organiser may collect personal information about entrants, including the information they provide upon entry. The Event Organiser collects this information for the purpose of processing entries, providing services to entrants, providing entrants with information about other services the Event Organiser offers that may be of interest to entrants (“Secondary Purposes”), facilitating the Event Organiser’s internal business operations, including the fulfillment of any legal requirements, and analysing the Event Oganiser’s services and customer needs with a view to developing new and/or improved services.
• At any time entrants may notify the Event Organiser they do no want the Event Organiser to use their personal information for Secondary Purposes by contacting the Event Organiser by any of the following methods: Email ryderd@qnp.newsltd.com.au. Mail: The Privacy Officer, Queensland Newspapers Pty Ltd, GPO Box 130, Brisbane QLD 4001. Please allow a reasonable time for your preference to be implemented.
• The Event Organiser may disclose entrants’ personal information to service providers who assist the Event Organiser in operating its business, however, these service providers are required to comply with the Event Organiser’s privacy policy in how they handle entrants’ personal information; a purchaser of the assets and operations of the Event Organiser’s business, providing those assets and operations are purchased as a going concern; the Event Organiser’s related bodies corporate within and/or outside Australia; and the emergency contact person nominated by the entrant.
• If the personal information entrants provide to the Event Organiser is incomplete and/or inaccurate, the Event Organiser may be unable to process their entry and/or be unable to provide entrants with the services they are seeking.
• Entrants may access the personal information the Event Organiser holds about them in accordance with the Event Organiser’s privacy policy.
• The $30.00 and $25.00 entry fees for participation in the 10km and 5km Events, respectively, includes a donation collected on behalf of the nominated charity. Entry fees include GST.
- Prizes will be awarded to valid entrants who cross the finish line in the designated categories and finishing positions detailed below. To be awarded one of the prizes, participants must be entrants accepted and registered by the Event Organiser and must present themselves at the main stage in the Event Day village and claim their prize. If the prize winner entrant isn’t eligible or doesn’t present themselves within the required time to claim their prize, the entrant may forfeit their prize.
-10km Event – Individuals – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th male and female entrants
-10km Event – Wheelies – 1st, 2nd and 3rd wheelie
-5km Event – Individuals – 1st, 2nd and 3rd male and female entrants

There are a range of prizes, detailed below:
Entry is only open to Event entrants accepted and registered by the Event Organiser who have paid the Event entry fee. Entrants wanting to participate will be required to attend the main stage area for judging on the Event Day by 10:00am and remain present until the prizes are awarded.
The competition will be judged on or near the main stage in the Event Day village on the Event Day between 10:00am and 12:00noon. The entrants deemed best dressed in each category by the judges on the Event Day will be awarded the prize for that category. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winners. However, the winning entrants must be present at the time of the announcement and present themselves at the main stage in the Event Day village and claim their prize. If any of the winning entrants isn’t eligible or doesn’t present themselves to claim their prize, the entrant will be deemed to have forfeited their prize and to be a Disqualified Entrant. If a Disqualified Entrant forfeits their prize, the entry of the Disqualified Entrant will be excluded and the process outlined immediately above in relation to the judging and awarding of prizes repeated until all prizes are actually awarded.

To enter: Entry is only open to Event entrants accepted and registered by the Event Organiser who have paid the Event entry fee and placed their Random Draw Tag provided with their Event information kit into the Suzuki display car at the Event Day village on the Event Day. Entries open on the Event Day at 06:00 and close on the Event Day at 11:00am.
How to win: The draws will take place on the main stage in the Event Day village on the Event Day between 11:00am and 1:00pm. The prizes will be awarded in no particular order. Each prize will be awarded to the first valid entry randomly drawn from all entries received. If the Event Organiser is unable to locate the winning entrant and/or confirm the winning entrant’s wish to claim the prize and eligibility within three months of the draw, the winning entrant will be deemed to have forfeited the prize and to be a Disqualified Entrant. To the extent any winning entrant forfeits the prize, the Event Organiser will randomly draw such further valid entries from all entries received except for the entries of any Disqualified Entrant until the prize is awarded to an entrant who confirms their wish to claim the prize and eligibility within three months of the corresponding draw date. The winning entrant will be notified by telephone and/or mail. The prizes will be delivered to the winners within three months of the winners being decided, providing the winners have been located and confirmed their wish to claim the prizes and eligibility within that same period.

The prize will be awarded to the first valid entry randomly drawn from all entries received. If the Event Organiser is unable to locate the winning entrant and/or confirm the winning entrant’s wish to claim the prize and eligibility within three months of the draw, the winning entrant will be deemed to have forfeited the prize and to be a Disqualified Entrant. To the extent any winning entrant forfeits the prize, the Event Organiser will randomly draw such further valid entries from all entries received except for the entries of any Disqualified Entrant until the prize is awarded to an entrant who confirms their wish to claim the prize and eligibility within three months of the corresponding draw date. The winning entrant will be notified by telephone and/or mail.
Prize:“Overnight accommodation package at the 5 star Treasury Casino and Hotel, including breakfast for two & valet parking.” valued at $748.00. The prize will be delivered to the winner within three months of the winner being decided, providing the winner has been located and confirmed their wish to claim the prize and eligibility within that same period.
To enter: Entry is open to Event entrants accepted and registered by the Event Organiser who have paid the Event entry fee. Entry is not open to the winner of the Race Day Draw – Suzuki Car. Entries open on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 12:01am and close on Friday, August 6, 2010 at 11:59pm.
How to win: The draw will take place on or near the main stage in the Event Day village on the Event Day between 11:00am and 1:00pm. The prize will be awarded to the first valid entry randomly drawn from all entries received. However, the entrant must be present at the time of the draw and has one minute after their name is announced over the public address system to present themselves at the main stage on the Event Day and claim the prizes. If the entrant isn’t eligible they will be disqualified from the draw, if the entrant doesn’t present themselves within the required time to claim the prizes, their entry will be placed back into the draw and the drawing process outlined immediately above repeated (“Redraw”) and the prize awarded to the next valid entry randomly drawn from all entries received except for the entry of the Disqualified Entrant (“Redraw Winner”), the process will continue until an eligible winner claims the prize.
Prizes: The winner will receive a Suzuki Swift S Series Manual motor vehicle valued at $20,000. The winner will also receive 12-months comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance from Suncorp* valued up to $1,000. The prizes will be delivered to the winner within three months of the winner being decided, providing the winner has been located and confirmed their wish to claim the prizes and eligibility within that same period.
