THE SUNDAY MAIL SUNCORP BRIDGE TO BRISBANE FUN RUN

  • The Organiser, Race Organiser and Event Organiser of The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run is Queensland Newspapers Pty Ltd. ABN 61 009 661 778 ("Event Organiser").
  • The Sponsors of The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run are the Event Organiser, Suncorp-Metway Ltd. ABN 66 010 831 722 ("Suncorp") and all the sponsors listed on the website bridgetobrisbane.com.au on the sponsors page.
  • "Event" means The Sunday Mail Suncorp Bridge to Brisbane 2008 Fun Run to take place on Sunday 7 September 2008, which includes both the 10km Event and the 5km Event. To qualify as a finisher in each race, you must finish the course along the exact route listed in the Race Guide booklet and on the website bridgetobrisbane.com.au.

By submitting an entry form and participating in the Event:

  • Entries close for mail entries on 15 August 2008 at 5pm; Online entries for Teams on 4 September 2008 at 5pm; Online entries for Individuals on 5 September at midnight; and Race office entries 6 September at 12noon ($10 surcharge applies to entries submitted at the Race Office on 6 September 2008).
  • All entrants must pay an entry fee and have an official race bib and timing chip supplied to compete in the race event. To do this, all entrants are required to complete and submit an official entry form via the website or hardcopy. The official entry form is not transferable – it is only valid for the person whose name and address details are listed.
  • Each entrant acknowledges that it is a condition of participating in the Event that he or she does so at his or her own risk. Each entrant accepts all risks and releases the Event Organiser, Suncorp, Sponsors and their agents, affiliates, employees, members, Event Organisers, volunteers, all instrumentalities, cities, Commonwealth or State Councils where the Event is held, and any person or body directly or indirectly associated with the Event, from all claims, demands and proceedings arising out of or connected with the entrant’s participation in the Event and indemnifies them against all liability for all injury, loss or damage arising out of or connected with their participation in the Event. This release continues forever and binds all entrants’ heirs, successors, executors, personal representatives and assigns.
  • Each entrant acknowledges that participating in the Event may involve a real risk of serious injury or even death from various causes including: over exertion, dehydration, and accidents with other participants, spectators or road users.
  • Each entrant should seek medical advice to ensure they are fit to compete and that this advice is obtained regularly and with the specific demands of the Event in mind.
  • Each entrant hereby acknowledges and agrees that their entry fee is non-refundable should they not compete or the Event is cancelled by the Event Organiser due to weather or safety reasons and that fees are not transferable.
  • Each entrant acknowledges that they have sole responsibility for their personal possessions and athletic equipment during the Event and related activities. The Event Organiser and Suncorp are not liable for any damaged/lost goods on the baggage truck.
  • Each entrant consents to receive medical treatment which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident and/or illness during the Event.
  • Entrants must supply details of any medical conditions from which they suffer that might affect their performance or be relevant if medical treatment is needed.
  • All entrants must return their Timing Chip after crossing the finish line at the event to the Event Organiser. Entrants, who do not return the electronic Timing Chip, loaned to them as an entrant in the Event, by Friday 19 September 2008 undertake to pay the Event Organiser $50. If, after collecting their Timing Chip they are unable to participate in the Event, they will deliver the Timing Chip bubble wrapped or in a box to USM Events, Po Box 1145, Eagle Farm BC 4009 or 1/120 Fison Ave West, Eagle Farm. Entrants are aware the Timing Chip may be damaged if sent via Australia Post mail and the Event Organiser will not be held responsible for Timing Chips not delivered by the due date if lost in transit.
  • Each entrant consents to the publication and/or use in any form of media whatsoever of their name, image, statements or otherwise in any context pertaining to the Event or otherwise before, during or after the Event whether for advertising, promotions or otherwise.
  • Each entrant understands they are not able to collect their Race Information Kit (including race number, Timing Chip and race information booklet) on race day. Kit items need to be collected prior to 12noon Saturday 6 September 2008.
  • Each entrant understands their entry form and payment is valid only for the fun run distance they have nominated in the Event. Entrants will be disqualified if they compete in a distance other than the distance nominated.
  • Individuals can enter and compete in both 10km and 5km distances, but will be ineligible to win both distances. The competitors 10km result will be deemed their registered time.
  • Entrants running with strollers can register for any category (excluding both 5km and 10km Elite categories) but must start at the back of their category.
  • Competitors with a maximum official result of 47min and 62min for the 12km event in 2007 will be allowed to start in the Blue Elite and Red Runner respectively in the 10km event in 2008.
  • Competitors with a maximum official result of 18min for the 4.5km event in 2007 will be allowed to start in the Purple Elite in the 5km event in 2008.
  • Entrants can enter a Team into the race with a minimum of five participants to be eligible in the 5km or 10km event. Please note: one team cannot enter some members in the 10km event and some members in the 5km event. A team must compete in the same race course and category. A team entry must be sent or delivered at the same time, with sufficient payment to cover all entrants. Team entries will not be accepted if less than five entrants are registered.
  • If an entrant is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must approve with signature the declaration printed on the entry form and sign it on their behalf. The parent/guardian is also responsible for the health and safety of their child/children/subject of the guardianship competing in the 5km or 10km events.
  • Entrants will not be permitted to use bikes, skateboards or rollerblades when competing in the Event. Pets, except guide dogs, will not be permitted on the course during the Event.
  • The Event Organiser may share your information with other companies, which are helping us market our goods and services, or with companies related to us or News Limited anywhere in the world. They or we may be in touch to let you know about goods, services or promotions which may interest you. If you would prefer us not to contact you, please contact the Privacy Officer on 07 3666 6902. You can gain access to your personal information by contacting our Privacy Officer.
  • The Event Organiser will share entrant information with the Race Timing Service - ChampionChip, photographic supplier and the event organisers - USM EVENTS, as part of their involvement with the Event.
  • The $30.00 and $25.00 entry fees for participation in the 10km and 5km Events respectively includes a donation collected on behalf of the nominated charity. Entry fee includes GST.

10km Teams (Maximum of 10 people per team to receive a prize):

  • 1st Prize Dinner for team (max of 10 guests) at Conrad Treasury’s Marco Polo Dining, Cellar & Martini Bar valued at $1,500.
  • 2nd Prize Brooks Runner’s pack for each team member including a Brooks backpack, water bottle and cap, valued at $65 each.

5km Prizes will be awarded to:

  • 1st Male $500
  • 1st Female $500
  • 2nd Male $ 250
  • 2nd Female $250
  • 3rd Male $100
  • 3rd Female $100

5km Teams(Maximum of 10 people per team to receive a prize):

Random Prize (s) Draw details:

Suzuki Auto Company Win one of two Suzuki Swift GLX Manual vehicles, including on-road costs courtesy of Suzuki Auto Co (valued at $19,300 each). Each vehicle features a 1.5 litre engine, 5 speed manual transmission, dual airbags, air conditioning, 5 doors (4 door & hatch), power steering, remote central locking, CD & MP3 Tuner.

As an early entry bonus, the first car will be randomly drawn from all mail or online entry forms received by 5pm on Friday 29 August 2008. The second car will be drawn from all race participants who have placed their Random Draw tag into the Suzuki display car. Both cars will be drawn on stage on Sunday 7 September 2008, you must be present at the time of the draw to win.

Suncorp Insurance Each Suzuki winner will also receive 12-months Suncorp Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance. Free 12 month Suncorp Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance policy issued by Suncorp Metway Insurance Ltd ABN 83 075 695 966 ("Suncorp Insurance") valued at approximately $1,000. Award of the prize is subject to the Suzuki Swift winner meeting Suncorp Insurance’s underwriting and acceptance criteria.

Conrad Treasury Prize One entrant will be drawn at random to receive an overnight accommodation package at the 5 star Conrad Treasury Hotel, including breakfast for two & valet parking. Approximate value $500.

  2. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, nor redeemable for cash.
  3. Prize details are correct at the time of printing. Any change in the value of the prize between the publication date and the date prizes are awarded is not the responsibility of the Promoter.
  4. To enter the random draw you will need to tear off your RANDOM DRAW tag from your race bib and place it into the Suzuki display car near the finish line in the Ekka Showgrounds race village. Entry into the random draw will open at 7.30am on Sunday 7 September and close at 10.20am on Sunday 7 September.
  5. The random draw will occur sometime between 10.35 and 11.30am on race day Sunday 7 September on the stage in the Ekka Showgrounds race village. To be eligible to win a random draw prize you must be present at the stage area in the Ekka Showgrounds race village at the time of the draw and within a reasonable amount of time (approximately two minutes (120 seconds)) claim the prize by making yourself known to an Organiser on the stage. If the prize is not claimed within two minutes (120 seconds) of the draw, redraws will occur until the prize is claimed.
  6. The first car will be randomly drawn from all mail or online entry forms received by 5pm on Friday 29 August 2008. The second car will be drawn from all race participants who have placed their Random Draw tag into the Suzuki display car.   8. The staff and families of Queensland Newspapers Pty Ltd, Suncorp-Metway Ltd, Suncorp and the Suncorp Group, as the principal Sponsors of the Event, are not eligible for the 10km or 5km Corporate random draw prizes.
  9. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry. Entry into this promotion is deemed to be acceptance of these conditions of entry. Entries not completed in accordance with these terms and conditions are ineligible.
  10. If the entrant is under 18 years and wins the Suzuki Car, the vehicle must be registered in a parent/guardian over 18 years old.
  11. Winners must not sell or exchange prizes for profit and doing so is a breach of competition terms.
  12. The winners release the Promoter from any and all causes of action, losses, liability, damage, expense (including legal expenses) cost or charge suffered, sustained or in any way incurred by the winner as a result of any loss or damage to any physical property of the winner, or any injury to or death of any person arising out of, or related to or in any way connected with the Promoters or the prize.
  13. The Promoter collects your personal information to assist us in providing the goods or services you have requested, to process your competition entries, and to improve our products and services. We or any of our Australian related companies may be in touch by any means (including email or SMS) to let you know about goods, services, or promotions which may be of interest to you. We may also share your information with other persons or entities that assist us in providing our services, running competitions or with other companies who provide prizes for competitions or reader offers.
  14. All prize winners will agree to participate in any publicity arrangements made by, or on behalf of, the Promoters, and permit their name, suburb and photographs to be used for publicity purposes, without being compensated in any way.
