Getting to the start line

Parking

For the 10km Event

Car Park 1 – Located at the Metroplex complex on the corner of Lytton and Creek Roads, approximately 800m west of the start area.

Car Park 2 – Located at the Murarrie Sports Ground on Wynnum Road, approximately 900m from the start area.

Competitors will need to walk the short distance from these carparks to the starting line.

For the 5km Event

There will be parking available around the Hamilton industrial area to the east of Remora Road at Hamilton and Eagle Farm. Please note that there will be no access to Remora Road via Kingsford Smith Drive while the 10km event is in progress.

Park at the EKKA Showgrounds and catch the Bus or Train.

A limited number of car parks are available within the EKKA Showgrounds for a fee. Alternatively, there are car parks in the surrounding streets.
Please obey all regulated traffic parking signs and do not obstruct driveways.

Pre-paid bus

A pre-paid bus service will be available from Costin Street near the EKKA Showgrounds to shuttle competitors to the 5km and 10km start. NOTE: This service is now SOLD OUT.

For 10km participants, the first shuttle leaves at 5.00am, last shuttle leaves at 5.30am.
For 5km participants, the first shuttle leaves at 7.30am, last shuttle leaves at 8.30am.
Anyone with a ticket arriving after these times will not be guaranteed a seat.

Train

Bowen Hills Station and Brunswick St Station are approximately 900m from the EKKA Showgrounds. Tickets can be purchased at the train station. NOTE: Even though an additional train was added by Queensland Rail (departing Bowen Hills at 5.33am), participants are advised that both trains are now FULL.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please be advised that both the Pre-race trains and pre-paid buses from Bowen Hills to the 10km start line in Murarrie for the race start are now all FULL. Participants are advised to park near the 5km start line in Hamilton or the 10km start line in Murarrie before the race and then catch one of the frequent trains or pre-paid buses from Bowen Hills back to their parked car after the race. There will be plenty of parking available near both start lines. Remember to pre-purchase your bus tickets by 1 September.

Getting home after the race

Pre-paid bus

A pre-paid bus service will be available from Costin Street near the EKKA Showgrounds to shuttle competitors back to the 5km and 10km start lines to your parked car after the race. This service is available to all entrants who pre-purchase a bus ticket from the Race Office prior to 4pm on Monday 1 September 2008 (unless sold out prior). Bus tickets are $3.00 per person.

First shuttle leaves at 9.00am, last shuttle leaves at 12noon.

Trains

Brunswick Street Train Station and Bowen Hills Train Station are approximately 900m from the finish line at the EKKA Showgrounds. To return to the 10km start line, take the Cleveland line and get off at Murarrie Station, which is approximately 100m from the Murarrie Sports Ground. Tickets can be purchased at the train station.

Buses

Brisbane City Council buses will be running their normal Sunday schedule from outside the Royal Brisbane Hospital on Bowen Bridge Road. Tickets can be purchased on the bus.
